Peel Ports meeting with Us on the 12th July 2018

As promised, we said we would let you know what was discussed at the Peel Ports meeting last week.  They weren’t expecting us to minute the meeting so we had to get these notes approved by them beefier publishing.  To be honest , we were not censored by them.

Peel Port 12th July 2018 notes v1.2

If you want to get involved in working to stop oil rigs being decommissioned so close to our village write to our MSPs, MP and Environment Minsters.  The more individual letters they receive, the more attention they will give the matter.

  1. You comment as if an Environmental Impact Statement is, in reality, optional. In spite of what Marine Scotland say, no sane organisation would proceed without one. Also, no sane organisation would censor the minutes of meetings unless there was gross misrepresentation contained within them. I wonder if your hostile approach to this is representative of the Fairlie community as a whole? I live in West Kilbride but have been asked by two residents of Fairlie, who do not wish to be identified, to express an open mind about the development, this being my own view subject to a level-headed review of the EIS.
Economic development and job creation are vital for North Ayrshire, and your approach should include obtaining guarantees that the development will employ a satisfactory number of local people.
