Fairlie Coastal was originally formed as a community council sub-committee and tasked to deal with environmental issues. It has since become a group in its own right and an active member of the Scottish Coastal Communities Network. Fairlie Coastal is a partner with the Wild Oysters Project and helping to restore threatened native oyster habitat. It also works closely with other local groups including Clyde Porpoise CIC and Friends of the Firth of Clyde.
